The Effectiveness of Simplicity - Entry #0

My thoughts on blogs are as follows; keep it simple.

Mommy blogs gained popularity in the early 2000s due to the personal experience that connected and comforted the readers on a deeper and personal level. They were places to learn something and find solidarity in becoming a new mother and gaining knowledge from others' experiences. Not only benefiting new mothers but soon grew rapidly into sharing recipes, expanding businesses, and eventually celebrity drama.

The Pioneer Women perfectly displays what I'm talking about. The simplicity of the blog will forever be timeless whereas blogs like TMZ and Billboard are only fast trends and will soon fade away. Ree Drummond is a mommy blogger and cook who created The Pioneer Women in order to share her recipes online and her overall experiences. She keeps the blog simple, and that's why it works. The layout chosen consists of different sections broken down into subcategories to help the viewer find exactly what they are looking for, adding bright colors to lead the eyes over delicious meals and home hacks that make your house feel like a home. Overall The Pioneer Women reaches those who want to know and learn more which leaves the reader with the feeling of homegrown and comfort.

Although TMZ might be one of the biggest websites with 99.3 million viewers in July, the drama-filled tabloid has been seeing a decrease over the last few years. The only time their viewings are high is when celebrities pass away which leads me to believe that TMZ is only useful for fast fashion and has no security in the future because they only depend on the latest drama. Do not get me wrong, hearing about the latest celebrity issues and keeping up with the drama is not always a bad thing. I often find myself browsing through the website looking at all the "click-bait'' material the paparazzi has discovered. I feel as though there are better options out there, like an actual news source instead of relying on far fetched ideas with little to no point.

After looking over TMZ and The Pioneer Women, I found my results fairly interesting. TMZ is incredibly overstimulating with too much information just copied and pasted to get "more views." The website itself isn't really broken down to find exactly what you are looking for, everything appears to be a headline. In comparison to The Pioneer Women everything sort of has a place, but both blogs tend to the the same thing well and that is reaching their target audience, whoever that may be.
